I am Stephen Snedden. I love creating objects that did not exist before.
My previous project SeaHull is a twin hull unsinkable rotational plastic boat designed to be a multifunction vessel. I built the mould, a complex arrangement with multiple folding’s and compound curves in my workshop and even built my own oven to mould the boat then went through a long and costly process learning how to effectively mould them till it was finally perfected.
Also designed a trailer that is plastic moulded and floats to enable you to launch and recover easily.
Specs of boat
4.2m x 1.8m x .8m weight 200kg, Internal side height 550mm Floor Size 3.1m x 1.5m. Alloy(tread) or Marine ply floors.
Years ago, I was one of the first to start importing welders especially AC TIG welders from China and virtually pioneered the trade here that has now become a multi-million dollar industry with all the major brands involved. I am a welder by trade and refined my craft building alloy boats and barges.
Speed welders are an attachment that can have a plastic weld rod inserted that melts in the hot air stream and preheats the plastic substrate at the same time. As they are drawn across the weld the heated tip presses the welding rod into the work.
It is a faster method of welding plastic than using a hot air stream and a welding rod where the rod is laid down while using the air to heat both the material and the rod separately. It’s similar to the difference between TIG and MIG welding where one involves adding a welding rod to the work by hand and other feeds the weld metal directly.
