I am Stephen Snedden. I love creating objects that did not exist before.
My previous project SeaHull is a twin hull unsinkable rotational plastic boat designed to be a multifunction vessel. I built the mould, a complex arrangement with multiple folding’s and compound curves in my workshop and even built my own oven to mould the boat then went through a long and costly process learning how to effectively mould them till it was finally perfected.
Also designed a trailer that is plastic moulded and floats to enable you to launch and recover easily.
Specs of boat
4.2m x 1.8m x .8m weight 200kg, Internal side height 550mm Floor Size 3.1m x 1.5m. Alloy(tread) or Marine ply floors.
Weld NZ markets welding machines and accessories. Its proprietor Stephen Snedden is a well-known contributor to New Zealand DIY magazines.
He has been described as one of those irrepressible entrepreneurs with an imagination brimming with ideas. Over the past thirty years, his projects have been as diverse as multi-hulled plastic boats to non-conventional steel trailers.
Awards have come from as far back as his apprenticeship days as a welder (NZ Gold Medal), to New Zealand’s premier farming show the annual Mystery Creek Field days which attracts thousands of visitors.
He has strong convictions about sharing his knowledge and believes in helping people learn welding skills so that they can be in turn creative, and for some attaining self-sufficiency in enabling them to pursue careers in his chosen industry.
